The most popular styles in interior design

Interior design is a very popular topic. More and more people become the owners of their dream apartment or house. Each of these properties requires styling it for a specific owner. In this article, we will focus on the following styles that will be used in interior design:

  • modern (modernist),
  • scandinavian and ecological,
  • classic,
  • loft (industrial),
  • rustic.

Modern style – simplicity in design

The modern (modernist) style is one of the most popular styles that is chosen at the stage of interior design. Its main features are simplicity, minimalism and spaciousness. It is in vain to look for any strange shapes or patterns in it. Straight, perpendicular and parallel lines predominate. The colors are subdued and most often the choice falls on beige, gray, white, black and shades of wood. The modernist style appeared in the designs of architects for good at the beginning of the 20th century and does not intend to give way to another style.

Feel like in Scandinavia

The Scandinavian style breaks popularity records. It is characterized by simplicity, coziness and intertwining elements of nature. Its cradle is Scandinavia, which is famous for its extreme temperatures and long and dark winters. Therefore, its characteristic feature is letting a lot of light into the interior, thanks to bright colors or white walls. White is the basic color in the Scandinavian style, and the rest of the colors are complementary. This style can be compared to the ecological style due to its attachment to nature.

Classics will never go out of fashion

The classic style was created for people who do not like changes in the style of their rooms. They prefer to design their interior once and for all so that it can serve them for many years. Timeless solutions reign here, the materials used are of high quality, and the details are elegant. The colors do not deviate from the norm and are also dominated by beige, brown and white. In this style there is a wooden floor, wallpapers on the walls, a fireplace or a bookcase, and the ceilings are richly decorated.

Industrial climate

The industrial, or loft style, was born in the 1950s and 1960s in the USA, when it was necessary to arrange the rooms of abandoned factories. It is characterized by open spaces and large windows. The colors are mainly subdued and raw materials are used, e.g. concrete, iron, metal, wood – like in an old factory. It is in the loft style that the light bulbs hang from the ceiling on a cable and are covered with metal lampshades.

Feel like in the countryside in a rustic style

The rustic interior is associated with a stay on holiday in the countryside. If you want to live in harmony with nature, choose a rustic style. It can be distinguished by old wood with visible rings, stone, natural flowers and plants that are placed in a visible place, e.g. braids of garlic or onion. There is no shortage of folk decorations made of linen, wicker or wool.
