Step by step garden desig

The garden is a place where you can relax and invite friends to your backyard paradise. It is also a showcase of the house. Summer evenings in the garden will be made more pleasant by a common barbecue and the observation of falling stars. Designing your own garden is a real fun and a kind of challenge to work on your creativity and spatial planning. How to design a garden? How to approach it? What are the garden styles? Why do garden design keep some people awake at night? You will learn about it in this article.

Where to start?

In the first step, we should designate the area of the garden where we intend to create a new garden. Any ideas should be put on paper so that they do not escape from your head. Go to measuring the area of the designed garden. Include all existing elements in it and do not omit any. We are talking about a house, fence, pavement, paving stones or growing trees that we do not intend to remove. Every free space left on the set is a place where you can let your imagination run wild. At this stage, you can still modify the design and remove dry shrubs, get rid of weeds or diseased trees. If you intend to get rid of trees that are under protection or have a trunk circumference that is too large (50 cm, 65 cm or 80 cm, depending on the tree), you must first obtain the appropriate permission from the city or commune office.

The purpose of the garden

The next step is to determine the purpose of the garden. Usually, there are many functions of the garden, and it all depends on the number of people who will use it, interests or frequency of staying in it. The garden should be adapted to the expectations of the owner, not the other way around. After determining specific attractions, e.g. a barbecue or a playground for children, put them on the project plan. Think about where they can be placed so that they become functional and useful for all household members. Don’t leave it to the mercy of fate and don’t place it anywhere. Place the playground in a visible place to keep an eye on children. Make the driveway next to the entrance to the house and to the garage. Place the barbecue area away from the road and neighbors to create a secluded place.

Check the soil pH in your garden

Without the right pH of the soil, the vegetation in the garden will stop blooming and developing. To do this, check the soil pH, adapting it to the vegetation. At home, the pH of the soil can be checked with distilled water, baking soda and vinegar. If a soil sample in a container of distilled water and vinegar begins to hiss, it means that it is an alkaline soil. When bubbles appear after pouring baking soda, we will have contact with acidic soil. If no reaction has taken place, the soil is neutral. After knowing what kind of soil we have in the garden, use universal soil, peat soil or pine bark.

Choose plants for the garden

Divide the garden into sectors and place trees, shrubs, herbs or flowers in them. Bet on a specific garden style. The colors should match the color of the house, garage, fence and other elements of the garden. Match the garden style to your personality and character. In the art of garden design, the style of the garden can be distinguished: Japanese, French, English, country, modern, minimalist, Scandinavian, Mediterranean or rustic. Then choose the plants and plant them in your garden. Enjoy the flowers that will bloom for the next few months and savor the fruits of your hard work.
